"I's Wide Open"
“I’s Wide Open” may subtly be the best of Ms. Lloyd’s Floral Series. Though not as initially dramatic as ”Wings” or “V” or others, as one studies or lingers, as one follows this special work of art from bottom of stem to top of bloom, one appreciates the variances of tones, of hues.
The effortless melding of greens, yellows and golds of the stems to the almost bleeding quality of the light to dark blues to the near purple of the blossoms, the quality of which is rarely seen in the colored pencil medium. Note the winding and knotting of the stems.
