About the Drawing, "Golden"

I first saw this magnificent creature as I was driving through the country, not far from my studio and I immediately new that I had to paint him.
I have not met the his owner but it is obvious that they love this glorious animal, obvious by the sheen of his coat, obvious by the perfection of his tail and mane, and obvious that all though his owners had other horses, this part of the pasture is his and his alone.. As I was sketching him it became obvious to me, by his posture, his stance and his carriage, that he was aware that my eyes never left him and he was actually posing.

About the Drawing, "Gift"

I completed “Gift” in late October of 2008. These irises, which came from my spring garden, were at their peak when I photographed and sketched them. I hope that I was able to capture their richness and brilliance of their beauty. And of course, I hope that you enjoy them.

About the Drawing, "Neighbors"

Recently I went for a walk and ended up sitting on the remnants of an old stone wall that faces the back wall of the barn, which also is the most primitive and most interesting part of the structure. I started to sketch and as the drawing progressed, I became aware of a warm happiness within myself. Once again, "my" building had enchanted me.

The holiday season is my favorite time of the year and somehow this lovely old structure invaded my mind and forced my hand to include it in the 2nd of my 3 Christmas cards for 2008.

I hope that you enjoy this drawing and my Holiday collection and that you and your loved ones have the happiest of Holidays.

About these delightful frogs.

I sketched these wonderful characters a few years ago and only recently brought them to life with watercolor. Their humor is infectious.
They make me smile and I hope they do the same for you.
I plan on creating a series of these frogs in a variety of settings. Please keep an eye out for them.

About the Drawing, "The Tree"

I completed this drawing in September of 2008. The inspiration for it came from an old barn that sits on the property behind the studio. The man featured carrying the freshly cut Christmas tree is my neighbor, Jim.

I have featured this old barn in many of my drawings. It's so beautiful and such a wonderful structure to draw and so full of character. Every time I take a walk and see it, it once again inspires me to include it in a future drawing.

About the watercolor painting, "Herd and Hers Alone"

I completed this watercolor in August of 2008. The inspiration for this painting came from my love of cows and my 4H memories that I experienced as a child while living for a brief time in Montana.

I remember the children who worked so hard raising their own small herds in hope of winning the blue ribbon in the 4H show that coming year. I myself raised two young hogs whom I named Rosebud and Daffodil and whom I will soon render in a future painting.
